KTS has been accepting international students for many years. A dormitory annex provides on-site accommodation where visiting students can stay. Each of the courses below are offered twice a year (eg: in spring and autumn) in consecutive running order.

Intended for: Beginners
Duration: 12 days

People who are touching upon weaving for the first time learn the general foundations of dyeing and weaving over 12 days.
Through making samples, gain an understanding of the mechanism of a basic loom,
and learn about the structures of plain weave, twill weave, satin weave and more.

Intended for: Experienced Weavers*
Duration: 10 days

Kasuri is a technique whereby weaving threads are resist-bound with elastic or nylon
tape prior to being dyed, in order to create different coloured patterns in woven cloth.
This course is intended for international students who have some experience with weaving and would like to try kasuri for the first time. By making samples, students
learn warp-kasuri, weft-kasuri, and double kasuri.
*Equivalent to at least Beginners Course completion level

Intended for: Foundation Kasuri Course Graduates
Duration: 1 Block/ 10 days
Capacity: 5 students

Upon completion of the Foundation Kasuri Course, continue to strive for additional development. In this course, students learn the basics of Zurashi Gasuri (shifting kasuri) and Nassen Gasuri (stencil dyeing kasuri).
Make an original artwork by applying the skills learnt in the previous Kasuri courses.
It is also possible to study for longer than two blocks (20 days) in order to create a larger original artwork. Please inquire. This course is self directed, and you will study alone with guidance from a teacher.
